Owner Brian Bivona and his brother executive chef Matthew Bivona are living their dream with Mercato Kitchen & Cocktails. Their motto is "life happens in the kitchen" which is prominently displayed in the front of the dining room. They take great pride in the high quality of their food, drinks and service. Chef Matthew, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, brings with him a high level of experience having owned a restaurant in San Diego and also worked in Rockefeller Center. Brian worked in the hospitality industry most of his adult life.
The menu is constantly evolving by Chef Matt who loves using local products. They're known for creative house specials, a must-try, like Parmesan Polenta Frites; Lemone e Pepe Pollo; Italian Crepes; and Strawberry Watercress Pesce, and their signature dishes including Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls; Flatbreads; Stuffed Avocado Salad; and Rigatoni Gorgonzola and Sausage. Chef-inspired hand crafted fresh fruit cocktails, made from scratch, are a collaboration with Matt and the entire staff. International wines are reasonably priced with some hard to find labels.
The ambiance has "a feeling of comfort...where everyone feels like a regular." Managers Lisa and Kéleigh lead the staff who are incredibly friendly, sociable, welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient and they love working with Brian and Matthew. High ceilings, comfortable high-back booths along a dramatic slate wall, mirror treatments, unique silver chandeliers shaped like tree branches, and artwork depicting a woman's lips made from wine bottle corks is the focal point of the dining room. The expansive bar room has a long dramatic concrete topped bar, illuminated shelves, flatscreen TVs, high top tables, and French doors leading to an outdoor dining patio. Candles throughout set a romantic mood.
Brian and Matt say, "the most fun they have is making people happy while they're dining"...Mercato is their true love and passion.
