Pio PioCuisine: Peruvian
Avg. Check: $15 - $25
Attire: Casual

Every now and then you stumble upon a restaurant that is a great value, very casual, very unpretentuious and very ethnic. Pio Pio serves authentic Peruvian cuisine in a uniquely decorated setting. High embossed tin ceilings, exposed brick walls, colorfully hand painted Peruvian artwork, and dimly lit chandeliers is the setting for this vibrant and exciting restaurant.

Visit the other Pio Pio restaurants, 62-30 Woodhaven Blvd, Rego Park, 718-458-0606; 84-13 Northern Blvd, Jackson Hights, 718-426-1010; 264 Cypress Avenue, Bronx, 718-401-3300. The specialties here are rotisserie chicken, marinated in a special Peruvian sauce - El pollo mas rico - delicious tasting chicken, and french fries with sliced sausage. The chicken is moist, tender and flavorful and accompanied by rice and beans, a large salad of sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, and lettuce with a delicate vinaigrette dressing. Enjoy a side of tostones - fried green platains with a garlic dipping sauce and maduros, sweet bananas. An appetizer of ceviche is fish with corn on the cob, sweet potato and white potato in a zesty lemon sauce. Authentic desserts include light, sweet and creamy flan, and homemade vanilla and chocolate cake roll topped with lucuma (the most popular ice cream flavor of Peru) and maracuya ice cream. Signature drinks are pisco sour, a blend of Peruvian grappa and egg white, and sangria made with a touch of champagne.

Augusto has a love and passion for his restaurants and would like to introduce you to a taste of Peru.
