Rughetta Ristorante is a quaint gem that is owned and operated by Luca Pecora, who honed his skills worldwide with respected restauranteur Paolo Lattanzi. Serving Italian cuisine with a Roman influence, the restaurant is adorned with prints of Rome, terra cotta tile floors, and is sheltered by the building's original tin ceiling. Each table holds a single candle, and fresh flowers. All of this re-creates the classic Italian feel that guests experience when dining here. "We still peel the garlic by hand", the owner reveals.

Forbes magazine, which stated that Rughetta has "excellent Italian fare" was quick to recommend the Scampi Tiziana, served with sautéed vegetables confetti, one of the establishment's nightly specials. Other popular dishes include Farfalle Rughetta, prepared with cream, green peas, pancetta, and porcini mushrooms and Scaloppina al Marsala. The wine list, consisting solely of Italian wines, is out of the ordinary, as Luca is always trying new labels from overseas.

The Zagat survey, which gave Rughetta one of the highest ratings on the Upper East Side, states that "locals consider it a world apart from your average neighborhood spot". This restaurant delivers high quality food with a personal touch. Always unpretentious, the atmosphere can be either romantic or festive, making it a top choice in the community.
