One of the busiest restaurants on the North Shore and established for 20 years, Hunan Taste is modern in decor and refined in taste. It is decorated with subtle artwork, fresh flowers, dramatic lighting from dazzling modern light fixtures, and a wall of bright picture
windows. Owner Calvin Hu takes great pride in the sparkling look he has created with the help of an
architect and graphic designer.
Calvin’s parents owned restaurants in Chinatown since the ’70’s and in New Jersey for the past 20 years. His dad, a chef, learned how to cook in China when
he was a child. Inspired by his father, Calvin says, “freshness is the key to our success”, and goes on to
say that there is a great variety of dishes on the menu that are consistently delicious. The kitchen staff is very versatile and try to accommodate special requests. Appetizers are splendid - chicken rolls, scallion
pancakes, and a diverse selection of dumplings, fried or steamed are popular choices. House specialties are top quality seafood, fish, lobster, direct from the market, and filet mignon. Favorite entrées include Hunan
lamb, Peking duck, available in whole or half portions and many savory noodle dishes. Light cuisine is offered with sauces and seasoning served on the side. The
professional waitstaff, most of whom have been with
the restaurant for a long time, provide personal
attention. An extensive wine list, fine cognacs, single malt Scotches and exotic colorful drinks are available.
