Apropos to the eatery’s aquatic name, Newsday calls Smithtown hotspot H2O Seafood Grill “upbeat and buoyant.” Voted one of the best nightlife single scenes on Long Island by AOL CityGuide readers, H2O serves a sleek clientele succulent seafood in a contemporary atmosphere.

Famed restaurant designer Morris Nathanson outfitted
the dining room to capture the feel of Cape Cod summers with white wood plank ceilings and walls, dark walnut tables, vintage nautical photos, model boats, and impressive wood and metal fish sculptures. A patio sets the stage for outdoor dining while a private parlor room hosts parties or corporate events. A lively bar area with upbeat music lets the sophisticated clientele relax with a signature cocktail, like the Hpnotiq and Ketel One Citroen H2O Martini, one of 19 takes on the drink for “when water just won’t do.”

General Manager Patrick Foley heads the finely-tuned young staff who serve the creative seafood dishes prepared by Executive Chef Scott Szekretar and his team. They use only the freshest seasonal ingredients to create tempting and delicious recipes. Hazelnut and parmesan crusted swordfish tops the entree selection and Millennium Lobster, a two pounder pan seared and dusted with angry garlic flour, is a favorite. H2O also offers a sushi bar with “some of the best sushi in town” according to the Zagat survey, and a raw bar dishing clams, oysters, and cocktails of shrimp, lobster, or crabmeat. Pastry Chef James Canavan makes homemade desserts like the Teardrop, a confection of ice cream, raspberries, almond sponge cake and chocolate mousse, that will satisfy any sweet tooth. H2O offers a selection of designer waters and an award-winning wine list of 2,000 bottles of 225 labels.

As dinner winds down, a bustling late-night crowd moves in and the cafe doors open to welcome the evening.
