Stonewalls has one of the prettiest, most exciting views of any restaurant. Located at The Woods Golf Course, the vistas from the dining room are breathtaking. Vincent Sasso and Charles Jurgens own and operate both the golf course and the restaurant. They created lush green grounds with rolling hills, colorful flowerbeds and a lake complete with a huge waterfall. The restaurant is made up of two rooms, The Grill Room which houses the bar and the main dining room. Flowers, graceful drapes, plush carpeting, oversized chandeliers, a beamed cathedral ceiling and crisp cloth covered tables make up the green, red and mustard yellow room where the ambiance is relaxed and comfortable. Candles add a romantic glow.
The kitchen staff is headed by veteran chef Guy Peuch, who cooked at some of Manhattan’s top restaurants. His menu of French dishes is intoxicting. Appetizers of mussels in a savory, creamy white wine broth, and crab cakes, the best ever, were delicious starters. Classic LI duck a l’orange, and veal paillard milanese were two intensely flavored entrees. Guy relys on fresh local products to ensure the highest quality dishes. Peach melba topped with fresh whipped cream and sinfully rich dark chocolate tart ended our meal on a sweet note.
General manager Laura Beyrodt and dining room
manager Thomas Conner keep a watchful eye on all aspects to make sure things run smoothly.
Enjoy a selection from their international wine list or a cocktail on the patio at Stonewalls, where the setting is captivating and the food is anything but ordinary.
