Manager Peter Oktas and Executive Chef Julio Velasquez introduce you to their charming Persil Brasserie starting with the butter. That rich secret to French cooking arrives green thanks to parsley (persil in French) and topped with a slab of pure creamy white, all for spreading on warm, chewy baguettes the attentive staff brings around.
Take in the casual classic decor while enjoying a glass of wine from the international list or a house martini at the wood bar, which boasts an intricate stained glass panel in the ceiling. A golden glow emanates from Art Nouveau wall sconces and brown and beige decor complements woodwork trim. Large mirrors list dinner and drink specials. The diverse menu offers specials for each day of the week, like Thursday’s Coq au Vin and Sheperd’s Pie on Sunday.
We enjoyed a salad special of mesculin greens, plum tomatoes, feta cheese and artichoke was tossed with a superlative basil balsamic vinaigrette. Dill, capers and
very thin potato pancakes accompany delicate and delicious salmon gravlax. Brasserie classics like steak frites with herbed butter is totally fulfilling. A walnut crusted filet of halibut complements sauteed butternut squash and leeks in a morel mushroom sauce; the same accompaniments are available on the menu alongside duck confit.
Homemade confections to enjoy with a perfect cappuccino or espresso include crepe suzette in a Grand Mariner reduction and chocolate-drenched profiteroles filled with vanilla ice cream. Purists opt for the cheese plate heaped with fruits, nuts and toast. A sprig of parsley garnish will bring your meal full circle at warm, lively Persil Brasserie where your meal will be as satisfying as the price.
