A collection of pillows in the front windows suggests a warm and comfortable restaurant. The inviting atmosphere continues once inside the Mixing Bowl Eatery. More pillows sit on banquettes that line two walls of the split dining room, an abundance of flickering candles, soft beige and sage green tones and subdued lighting complete the relaxd ambiance. Three over-sized modern paintings give the place a splash of color and excitement. The centrally located bar is a great place to meet and greet friends.
Owner and executive chef, Billy Galletti received his formal training at the New York Tech Culinary Scool and went on to work with top chefs on Long Island. His passion for food is evident in the American menu he put together of carefully crafted dishes. Roasted Beet Salad was fresh and delicious with contrasting flavors from sweet beets and tangy goat cheese. Paella, served in a metal pot, was full of clams, mussels, shrimp and chorizo in savory saffron rice. Billy’s creation of Zucchini Cakes was a particular favorite of ours; tender julienned zucchini in a light batter with yogurt and chives. And it doesn’t stop there; homemade desserts are a must. Mixed Berry Crumble was tart with a sweet crumb topping and warm Chocolate Pecan pie was a little less fattening - it had no crust! There’s a reasonably priced wine list and a variety of mixed cocktails to enjoy with your meal.
A jazzy sound track plays in the background of this friendly place that was recently redecorated courtesy of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares TV show and was included in Newsday’s 2007 Top Ten Restaurants list.
