Cafe Continental is a true Italian restaurant. The Mariottis purchased it in 1986 and ran it with tender loving care. A few years ago, Michael Mariotti became the owner and runs it just as his parents did. He gets to know all his customers, as though they were dining in his home. He’s sincere, he’s passionate, he’s the quintessential host. His warm and gracious ways trickle down to the staff who are friendly and
accommodating, especially Rossini, who has been here for 23 years.
Golden Tuscan yellow and wainscotting cover the walls in the softly lit dining room where photos, taken by Michael’s wife, Stephanie, of a relative’s Italian vineyard grace the walls. There are also scenes from Italian villages. Pretty chandeliers and sconces were imported from Murano. Relax and have a drink at the bar and get to know the people; the vibe here is friendly.
Enjoy a complimentary plate of cheese and olives while you peruse the menu of Italian specialties. Don’t see what you’re in the mood for? The chef will make you whatever you want. We loved the homemade pappardelle with a savory porcini mushroom sauce; perfectly grilled veal chop, thick and juicy; and tender grouper with sweet summer fruit. The wines are mostly from Italy and California and pair well with the dishes. Tiramisu, made by Michael’s mom, Julia, is a luscious treat and a great way to end your meal.
With an inviting and intimate ambiance, down-to-earth service and a young owner with old world charm, Cafe Continental offers a real taste of Italy. WINE TASTING DINNERS; PRIVATE PARTIES;
