Following on the heels of Bistros Cassis and Citron, newcomer Brasserie Cassis transports you to Belle Epoque Paris before you’ve taken a single bite. Rich woodwork graces walls covered in colorful posters and framed photographs of the city of lights. Elegant globe chandeliers hang from high ceilings and matching sconces line the walls. A glass divider etched with Art Nouveau flourishes defines the bar area. Enjoy an auspicious sirloin burger and French lemonade at the zinc bar or dine at the marble-topped tables and red leather banquettes of the main dining rooms.
A lively, efficient waitstaff dots the vibrant dining room first with baguettes to be spread with butter and pate. Then come the authentic, exquisitely presented dishes from the well trained kitchen staff. We loved a special of thick roasted tomato soup with Swiss cheese and bacon. Frogs legs are classic and perfect, just like the escargot; both arrive bathed in garlic butter, the latter served with petite toast rounds. Braised lamb shank is finely seasoned and cooked to perfection. Tiny mushroom ravioli complement exceptional Holland sole served over cabbage. Homemade desserts never falter. Standouts include a light, tangy passion fruit mousse cake and decadent profiteroles.
Voted one of the Top 10 New Restaurants of 2007 by Newsday, Brasserie Cassis is a hip, busy spot where you can tailor the experience to your needs. Enjoy a three-course dinner with a bottle of fine wine or make a meal of better-than-reasonably-priced mussels, prepared in one of three equally marvelous styles. Either way, it’s cheaper than a flight to Paris with much the same result. OUTDOOR DINING; PRIVATE PARTIES; CATERING; TAKE OUT; HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE
