Owners, father and son George and Jerry Stathopoulos, have established a family run restaurant that is chic and modern with a nod to tradition. Aside from giving the restaurant its elegant and contemporary feel, Blue is the color of Greece. According to an old custom, wives would paint the front doors of their homes Blue when their men went off to sea, believing the color would bring the sailors good fortune and ensure their safe return.
There’s no shortage of that color in this striking restaurant that is sleek and elegant. A fireplace with an intricately designed floral motif on the mantle is the focal point of the dining room that boasts cathedral ceilings and an enormous chandelier. Soft lighting, comfortable banquettes, graceful drapes, romantic candlelight and greenery complete the sophisticated decor.
The large bar, fully stocked with a varied collection of vodkas, tequillas, rum, gin, bourbon and every other kind of liquor is a hub of excitement. A separate room is where the action is on weekends when the music and dancing begin.
Culinary trained chefs Thomas Manikas, Jr. and Adam DeMartino are creative geniuses in the kitchen. The New American menu has selections from land and sea with a few Greek inspired dishes. We sampled many of their delicious, well-plated creations. Our favorites were sweet scallops with mascarpone orzo; tender slices of sirloin with a crispy onion ring; and LI stuffed duck breast with creamy cheesy grits. Desserts continue to show the innovative vision of the chefs. Cheesecake with strawberry compote and chocolate soil (chocolate crumbs) delights the senses - sight and taste. An international wine list with 21 choices by the glass pair well with all menu items.
Come for a cocktail, stay for a fabulous dinner and then dance the night away at Blue.
