Blue 42's customers often drop in during a day on the water, pulling their boats into their boat slips along Woodcleft Canal. Owners Irwin & Robin Krasnow opened this casual and fun American seafood grill in an historic building along the famed Nautical Mile. Old photos from that time line crisp nautical blue and white walls with tan wood trim. Pillars running down the center of dining room remind diners of being on a ship, an illusion the breathtaking water views confirm.
Executive Chef Anthony Russo keeps the cuisine true to the area. While seafood is his primary focus, the menu has a "splash" of everything, ensuring that there's something for everyone. The raw bar shells out Blue Point oysters and Little Neck clams while the house special mozzarella appetizer is hand crafted by Anthony himself. Entrees include Japanese-inspired tataki-seared ahi tuna with pickled ginger and Italianesque seafood el diablo, a tangle of cappellini pasta topped with shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels stewed in spicy tomato sauce. The atmosphere is family-friendly and the waitstaff caring and efficient. Anthony's homemade desserts
are a perfect ending to a great meal.
The waterfront tiki bar serves specialty drinks like the Blue 42 martini as well as its own casual menu. An exciting DJ and karaoke liven up Friday nights, while live music is played all week.
