Owners Nesli and Sunay Ciner made a definite statement when they designed their Turkish restaurant. Bold and beautiful, Tava is stunning with a red and black color scheme and gold accents. A wall of dramatic mosaic tiles, red drapes, small wall sculptures, candlelight, chandeliers and 2 softly lit dining rooms make up the setting for the authentic cuisine.
The menu is made up of hot and cold appetizers like Ispanakli Borek - phyllo dough filled with spinach and feta, and Dolma - vine leaves rolled with savory seasoned rice, nuts and black currants. Entrees include Mantarli Tavuk Sis - richly flavored marinated chicken cubes and mushrooms, char-grilled to juicy perfection, and Tilapia Bugulama - delicate fish baked with tomatoes, peppers and zesty lemons. Portions are generous and the menu promises an exciting dining experience with fresh vibrant flavors that are derived from traditional spices. House made desserts are just as authentic as the appetizers and entrees and just as delicious. Our favorites were Kunefe - warm shredded phyllo dough and cheese, a unique texture, and creamy sweet Turkish flan. Sip a Turkish coffee and your meal is complete. The reasonably priced wine list has several selections available by the glass.
Nesli and Sunay invite you to sample some traditional tastes in their “NYC-style” bistro where the culinary level is high but the prices are not.
