Owners Peter Oktas, the dining room manager and Julio Velasquez, the executive chef have great credentials. They both worked at fine restaurants on Long Island and in Manhattan.

Decorated in sage green and burgundy with large framed mirrors, contemporary wall sconces lighting and graceful drapes, Sage Bistro was an instant winner. Peter already knows the regulars by name and gets to know newcomers and makes everyone feel at home in this comfortable Gallic bistro.

Julio, who studied at the French Culinary Institute, keeps his French cuisine real by using classic ingredients which are fresh and of high quality. Our appetizer of French onion soup was one of the best we’ve tasted - full flavors with a topping of rich melted cheese. Steak Frites is a must. It is grilled to juicy perfection and you can’t stop until all the fries are gone. Salmon filet had a crispy hazelnut crust accompanied by a smooth apple and celery root puree. All homemade desserts are tantalizing treats. Fruit Napoleon was filled with fresh berries and mascarpone cream, and the dark chocolate mousse was dense in texture and sublime in taste. There’s a full bar with a global list of wines, many available by the glass, creative mixed cocktails and after dinner drinks.

The casual atmosphere makes Sage Bistro an appealing place to enjoy French cuisine among friends.
