Riodizio Churrascaria is a unique experience. Owners Luis Gomes, Joao De Matos and Alberico Campana of Manhattan’s Churrascaria Plataforma bring to Long Island the concept of slow cooking large portions of skewered prime beef which is commonplace in Brazil. This type of restaurant is common in Rio de Janeiro on the Copacabana beach. At Riodizio Churrascaria the meats are cooked to perfection in infrared rotisseries. There are at least 20 types of meat - rib eye, top sirloin, skirt steak, pork loin, beef short ribs...to name a few that are continually served tableside. There’s also grilled salmon and whitefish.
The charming old-world style decor includes arched windows, brown leather, rich mahogany, terra cotta tile floors and rustic artwork. The Manhattan-style bar is a relaxing place to enjoy a selection from their award winning wine list. At the entrance is a glass enclosed room that houses the wine collection. Sit by the cozy fireplace and watch a sports event on the flat screen TV and sip a caipirinha, the national drink of Brazil.
In the center of the dining room is a banquet style buffet where salads, fish and grilled vegetables are plentiful. But leave room because the meats just keep coming and they are so juicy and delicious it’s hard to resist. The “carvers” are prompt and friendly and encouraging... “have one more slice.” Try the homemade desserts. Smooth coconut flan and mango mousse are divine.
