With the “best pastrami in America,” Pastrami King is better than ever. In 2002 Abe Yamali opened this Merrick restaurant after closing his wildly successful Pastrami King on Queens Boulevard. Abe’s son Joe now continues to carry on his vision and operate the business. In Newsday’s 2008/2009 Fun Book, the Pastrami King was selected by Newsday’s food critic Joan Reminick as the top pick for having the best sandwiches on all of Long Island. “Pastrami King in Merrick beckons the hungry with its mile-high pastrami sandwiches . . . the meat is warm, lush and peppery, piled high on fresh crusty rye.” We couldn’t agree more with Ms. Reminick when she states, “it would be a shondah if Pastrami King served anything less than a stellar pastrami sandwich. In fact, it’s generous, succulent and entirely satisfying – as are the corned beef and tongue sandwiches.”
