LL Dent is all about Southern hospitality and Southern food. Lillian Dent and her daughter, Leisa planned for more than a year before opening their cozy restaurant where you can get a great home cooked meal.
Leisa, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, moved to Atlanta where she was a corporate executive chef for years before returning to Long Island. The ladies searched for the right location and as soon as they opened, word got around and the line was out the door. Leisa takes recipes, many from her grandmother and puts her own twists on them and creates dishes that are savory and hearty. We loved an appetizer of fried chicken livers, the best we’ve ever eaten! Southern fried chicken was moist and tender with a crunchy texture on the outside. Delicious stewed tilapia in a zesty sauce was a more refined dish. No Southern dinner would be complete without a macaroni and cheese casserole and this one was the perfect balance of cheese and pasta. Leisa makes the luscious desserts. Our favorites were the velvety smooth sweet potato custard pie, and dense banana bread pudding. Irresistible!
The casual dining room is decorated with ethnic posters on yellow and green painted walls. Kitchen memorabilia and old family photos are displayed throughout the room. Slow moving ceiling fans remind you of the South.
Lillian, a native of Evans, Georgia, greets customers in her warm and gracious way and Leisa comes out of her busy kitchen from time to time to greet old friends and make new ones.
