This historic Victorian mansion that houses award-winning Chef Tom Scahudel’s newest fine dining restaurant was built in 1863 by Jedediah Hawkins. The house, that is believed to have been a stop on the underground railroad, was meticulously renovated to its original splendor by Jeff Hallock. This is an Inn first and foremost in the middle of wine country and is unique to the area which has become a tourist destination.
Tom, along with Chef de Cuisine Michael Ross, combines classical technique with the best produce, fish and game the North Fork has to offer. They have created a series of menus that reflect the seasons, tasting menus paired with Long Island wines and a series of guest chef dinners. Signature dishes include handmade ricotta gnocchi with North Fork vegetables, Jurgelewicz duck, and local berry shortcake. The wine list is international and includes wines from every vineyard on Long Island. The wine collection is comprised of 2,500 bottles with about 20 selections available by the glass and features Tom Schaudel’s own Reserve Wines which he has made on the North Fork. In addition to this intimate restaurant, there is a casual dining subterranean wine cellar where you can enjoy a tapas menu. There are two terraces, one with a view of the pond, ideal for outdoor dining. Join them for “High Cheese”, a wine and cheese pairing in the gazebo, daily at 4pm.
The exquisite ambiance of this elegant setting which has a special occasion feel yet casual at the same time, and the extraordinary cuisine from the innovative kitchen is an experience to be appreciated.
