Bistro MCuisine: Contemporary American with French Flair

Mitchell SuDock always knew he wanted to be a chef. So he got the best training he could. He went to the Culinary Institute of America and then worked in some of NYC’s finest restaurants - Judson Grill, Gramercy Tavern and Gotham Bar and Grill. Then he cooked at Long Island’s highly rated Mirabelle.
Mitchell was ready to go out on his own. He opened Bistro M to rave reviews from The New York Times (“excellent”) and Newsday (3 stars). The Zagat Survey referred to it as a “small gem” and gave it an impressive “25” rating for food. We agree. Mitchell prides himself on creating dishes where ingredients are intertwined, dishes that tell a story. He uses as many local products as possible and can often be found at a nearby farm buying fresh fruits and vegetables. Two of our favorites were Pistachio Crusted Atlantic Halibut with creamy polenta, asparagus, peas, morel mushrooms, and lemon beurre blanc; and pan seared King Salmon with sweet pea flan, spring vegetable ragout and potato gnocchi. Both delicious dishes were glorious arrangements for the palate as well as the eyes. For dessert, we reveled in an ice cream coupe with house made ice cream and toppings...Yum! The wine list is global with an emphasis on American and the mixed drinks are inventive.
The restaurant is warm and cozy with French art posters, large mirrors, crisp white table linens, glowing candles and fresh flowers decorating the comfortable dining room. Bistro M is charming and classy and proves you don’t have to go to Manhattan for a fine dining experience.
