Owner Mary Mones loves Latin American cuisine and wants to share it with Long Islanders. And we're all better off for it!
The authentic dishes that come out of her kitchen are dazzling. We sampled a cod fish medley with shrimp, scallops and calamari in a flavorful Creole sauce, and Ropa Vieja, a Cuban dish of stewed shredded beef, potatoes and peas with green plantains. Two of the soups we tried, a hearty pork corn chowder was full of meat, potatoes, corn and a sprinkling of cilantro, and fisherman's soup had small scallops and shrimp in a delicious broth. All dishes are made from fresh ingredients and herbs to insure ultimate flavor. Wines are from Chile, Spain and Argentina are there's a list of original mixed drinks which are as vibrant as the food. Maria's House Special Sangria is a mixture of seven liquors that blend to make an exciting drink.
Attitude is as much a part of the place as the food and the staff is welcoming, gracious and helpful. The mood is upbeat and it's contagious. This restaurant is conducive to having a good time.
Decorated in a yellow and cinnamon color scheme, arts and crafts from Latin American countries are displayed throughout. Wall sconces and candles provide subdued lighting. There's a bar room where you can start your cultural experience with a frozen margarita.
Maria's opens the senses to something magical that is geared towards sophisticated palates. The Latin American cuisine is anything but ordinary. TAPAS MENU; LIVE MUSIC; DINNER SPECIALS; ON & OFF PREMISE CATERING; TAKE OUT; HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE
