Cuisine: French/American Eclectic Avg. Check: $30-$50 Attire: Casual Neat

Beachy, but elegant, fresh flowers, sound view, candlelight, and a very high level of food highlight this one and only French-American Eclectic restaurant on the beach in scenic Wading River. Local seascapes and Japanese Fish Prints adorn the walls in the 40 seat dining room and outdoor cocktail lounge. La Plage offers additional seating during the beach season on the outdoor terrace.
All the food is very fresh (produce from local farmers) and highlights seasonality. Owner-Executive Chef Wayne Wadington is the guiding force behind the culinary team. Chefs de Cuisine Devin Delgado & Stephane Schmitt produce house specialties including all kinds of fish and game, focusing on “great ingredients from great places.” Garde Manger Emilio Velasquez has been with the restaurant since it opened in 1995. All desserts are homemade, including the signature pastry; a molten center chocolate-banana bread pudding with cinnamon ice cream. However, the cuisine is not the only thing that shines at La Plage. Co-owner Erin Wadington & Manager/Sommelier Patricia Kaczmarczyk put together a constantly evolving and well balanced wine list featuring local vintners and international selections.
La Plage was voted best Restaurant and Best Chef by Dan’s Papers 2004 who wrote, “For fresher fish you need
a pole,” and “Clean cuisine with subtle enhancement.” Given an outstanding 27 for food by the Zagat Survey and voted “the most romantic restaurant on Long Island” by The New York Times, the water view, casual attitude with outstanding food and attentive service make this place a true find.
