Celebrating 20 years in business, Casa Rustica has a whole new look. Still comfortable with a pleasing ambiance, Mimmo Gambino credits his successful tenure as a great restaurant to its consistency. The servers are still professional, knowledgeable and courteous. And, the food is still outstanding.
Some of the menu items are recipes that he brought back from his native Italy and some are newer items introduced by his son, Benny, who graduated from NYIT?s Culinary Program. It's old school and trendy at the same time. We loved their
signature dish which is a 3 lb. lobster, steamed, then taken out of the shell and flambeed in cognac, butter and basil - in the dining room for all to see. What a presentation! Veal Casa Rustica is a thinly pounded breaded veal chop served with tomatoes, arugula, basil and balsamic
vinaigrette. Fresh ingredients are a must in their kitchen to allow the real flavors of the dishes to come through. The extensive wine list was the recipient of Wine Spectator's "Award of Excellence." House made desserts will round out your meal with sweetness. Velvety smooth cheesecake and creamy tiramisu were our favorites.
The restaurant has two dining rooms and a fully stocked bar. A stone fireplace, antique farm tools, a vintage cash register and framed photos of Mimmo as a youngster in Italy decorate one room. The warm color scheme of golden rust, alabaster chandeliers, a pot bellied stove, and candlelight give Casa Rustica its country
elegance.
