Pat, John and Joe Iavarone continue the tradition
of four generations. They have five highly successful gourmet specialty shops in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The Backroom Trattoria extends the tradition for quality gourmet food to a casual and warm restaurant.
Don’t be fooled by the delicious pizza, calzones and grilled paninis being made in the front window or its location in the busy Lake Success Shopping Center. Once you pass the handsome wood and marble bar (where you can enjoy a cocktail, espresso, cappuccino and desserts) you enter a newly renovated cozy dining room.
An enthusiastic staff is waiting to serve you their special brand of cuisine. Of course, it’s Italian, but with an imaginative twist. Start with perfectly fried or grilled calamari, sample their baked clams with garlic butter and pancetta or homemade mozzarella on a bed of fresh
tomatoes and basil. Next, move on to one of their classic soups, salads, or of course, pasta; such as, classic carbonara (without cream), fresh filetto di pomodoro, lobster ravioli, linguine fini with vongole or a special of the day, fresh
pappardelle with wild mushrooms. Great entrees include tender veal, chicken. eggplant or shrimp parmigiano, veal chops, lamb chops, dry aged shell steaks and tuna with Asian spices grilled to order. The reasonably priced wine list will add to your dining pleasure. Don’t forget dessert - some made by their pastry chef next door or their large assortment of gelatos and sorbets.
