Now entering its third century of continuous service, The Sayville Inn has quite a history. With all the charm and comfort of a country inn, it started out as a local
tavern in 1888, and after prohibition, the structure that
now houses the restaurant was added.
Owned and operated by Pamela Raymond and Richard Stafford for the past seventeen years, this American bistro has an eclectic clientele as well as an eclectic menu. Three generations of locals flock to this familiar place for great food and conversation. From
burgers and fries to homemade ravioli, Chef William Bergin, with years of experience cooking in Manhattan and on Long Island, prepares wonderful dishes - both menu staples and upscale daily specials. The perky young staff person brings you a basket of warm rolls and a cup of ancho chili and black bean spread that is positively addicting. Signature dishes are grilled tuna with a wasabi barbecue sauce and tempura soft shell crabs with roasted garlic and ginger soy dressing. Sauteed wild striped bass and mussels with curry scallion broth is a hearty dish of complex and delicious flavors. The homemade desserts are sinfully luscious, especially the BK Knockout - a warm brownie with a creamy center, topped with ice cream
and syrup.
Pamela, a former actress, changes the decor of the
dining room as she would a stage set. This year’s theme
is “Pre-Television America” with Norman Rockwell
memorabilia on display. Richard’s hobbies of motorcycles and aeronautics decorate the bar room.
Join Pamela and Richard for a friendly and enjoyable evening at their home away from home where Teddy Roosevelt used to come (via horseback) for a drink. LIVE MUSIC NIGHTLY; WINE DINNERS;
