In its twenty second year, Abel Conklin's remembers its founder Dana Cornell Riggs. The original owner of Canterbury Ales in Huntington and Oyster Bay, Dana was a well-known restaurateur in town for 30 years. Ever the gentleman, he was not only respected but well-liked in the industry and the community. In the wake of his passing, his family and the restaurant's staff, including General Manager Cassie Mernick who has worked at his side for 20 years, continues what he started at Abel Conklin's.
This stately welcoming establishment is a Huntington mainstay set in an historic homestead built by the restaurant's namesake in 1841. Etched glass scenes of the village preside over diners while oak paneling, mahogany accents and a cozy fireplace create a warm and inviting atmosphere in the dining room.
Dana was a pioneer in the steak house business, and though the restaurant is best known for serving prime aged steaks, the chef prepares a wide selection of dishes including fresh seafood. Entrees are always served with a vegetable and potato. Abel Conklin’s invites you to sample the creations of their new co-executive chef who complements Willie Argueta, who has been with the restaurant for 17 years. Accompany any meal with a glass or bottle from the comprehensive wine list. The staff will always ensure you will have a memorable dining experience.
With delicious cuisine, a friendly ambiance and personal attention from a caring, professional staff, it's no wonder Abel Conklin's has earned an "Excellent" rating in the Zagat guide fourteen years running. Enjoy a day browsing around town, then complete it with a delightful and delicious dining experience at Abel Conklin's. Remember its history, both recent and long past, and look forward to making new and joyous memories.
