LONG ISLAND RESTAURANT WEEK
Submitted by: KEVIN J. LEDDY(CAMELOT TU on Nov 10th 2007
I RECENTLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE PROMOTION OF LONG ISLAND RESTAURANT WEEK. HAVING BEEN JOINED BY ANOTHER COUPLE MY WIFE AND MYSELF DECIDED TO TRY "LUDLOWS BISTRO" IN DEER PARK.UPON ARRIVING AT LUDLOWS WE WERE GREETED AT THE DOOR BY THE OWNER BRIAN TO WHOM WE ANNOUNCED THAT WE DID NOT HAVE RESERVATIONS AT WHICH TIME HE ASSURED US THAT THERE WOULD NO PROBLEM SEATING US HOWEVER WITH IT BEING RESTAURANT WEEK THERE WOULD BE A SLIGHT WAITING TIME.WE THEN STEPPED UP TO THE BAR AREA WHERE WE ENJOYED COCKTAILS FROM THIER MOST INTRESTING DRINK SPECIALS.IT WOULD BE ABOUT 15 MINUTES AT THE BAR WHEN BRIAN APPROACHED US TO LET US KNOW IT WOULD BE A FEW MORE MINUTES. I THOUGHT TO MYSELF HOW MANY TIMES I FOUND MYSELF IN THIS VERY SAME SITUATION IN OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS WHERE YOU ARE LEFT TO WONDER IF YOU WILL EVER BE SEATED? HAVING BRIAN MONITOR OUR TIME WAITING AND PROVIDING US WITH UPDATES GAVE ME AND MY PARTY A COMFORTABLE FEELING.IN WHAT FINALLY AMOUNTED TO A 30 MINUTE WAIT(NOT BAD FOR A FRIDAY NIGHT WITH NO RESERVATIONS ON RESTAURANT WEEK) WE WERE SHOWN TO OUR TABLE AGAIN BY BRIAN WHO APOLIGIZED FOR THE WAIT AND AWARDED US WITH COMPLIMENTRY COCKTAILS.THE SERVICE WAS A DIRECT REFLECTION OF THE OWNERS COMMITMENT TO HIS PATRONS.THE DIVERSE AND WELL THOUGHT OUT MENU LEFT ANY PALATE WITH A DESIRE TO BE SATISFIED.I COULD TRY TO DESCRIBE JUST HOW MUCH I RELISHED IN THE FINE TASTING WELL PREPARED FOOD HOWEVER I THINK THAT IT WOULD BETTER SERVE YOU BY VISITING LUDLOWS FOR YOURSELVES. IN CLOSING I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND KUDOS TO BRIAN AND HIS ENTIRE STAFF FOR A MOST PLEASENT DINNING EXPIERENCE.I WOULD STRONGLY URGE ANYONE TO VISIT LUDLOWS FOR IT SEEMS TO THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN DEER PARK.

Bedlam Street Fish & Clam Co
Submitted by: Margaux Walls on Oct 13th 2007
We read up on this restaurant before we went and it was a disappointing experience. Both this site and restaurant.com stated it had a children's menu for $5 - not even close!! The children's menu is a verbal not written one and it consists of 2 items (chicken fingers or pasta) and cost us $10 and $8 dollars. $8 for a child's portion of pasta with butter? OUCH. The menu is very limited with only about 5 choices available outside the 1 special of the night (short ribs, southwestern skirt steak, spinach stuffed chicken breast, fish dish, and gorganzola crusted sirloin). These dishes were well made by a great chef. I can appreciate that even if I did not enjoy the dish I ordered (the chicken breast was suppose to come with polenta - I found about 2 tablespoons under the chicken breast and the flavor was not to my liking).

As long as you enjoy the few choices available on their menu, this restaurant is a very good culinary experience. The prices of the food were worth it. I raved about the calamari (highly recommended but not enough sauce and a request for additional sauce was met with a stare). The price of the drinks were outrageous but that's common for the area (apple martini costs $10).

We went early friday night and they had a trio playing mood music which was nice. A place for couples to enjoy the hip vibe this restaurant trys hard to cultivate. But most definitely NOT recommended for families.
