HONU in Huntington is now "American-small plate" cuisine. The food is quite good and you can try a vaiety of dishes. Very good concept. The lamb chops with peas & truffles is a particularly good dish.

sick
Submitted by: christine on Aug 25th 2007
We ate at a lovely place last night. A few hours after we got home my poor husband was up vomiting most of the night. He was running a temp. He had escargot and fish too. The meal was over 100 for both of us. I am annoyed. What should I do?

notify the owner of the establishment. But in all fairness, without the proper medical tests on your husband you don't know if he had a stomach virus or food poisoning. If it is food poisoning, the bacteria might have come from something he ate a day or two prior to getting sick.

Reply #2 submitted by: restaurant manager on Aug 26th 2007
the publisher of this magazine is right...food bourne illness takes 6-8 hrs to manifest itself in your system...food poisoning does not occur 1-2 hrs after eating something at a restaurant...AND if one person gets sick from eating at a restaurant most likely others will get sick too...bacteria has no conscious and will spread rather quickly to other pieces of raw food and contaminate it without hesitation...this is something EVERYONE should know about food poisoning...once again, thank you to the publisher for printing it.

Reply #3 submitted by: got sick on Oct 26th 2007
mr sendor is correct. he is the man in charge of this site and many more great things. food bourne illness takes so long to strike someone. when some people tell me,,,, i am sick..... i say,,,,,,,, stop drinking jack and eating tartare....

Go to Tula Kitchen in Bay Shore on Main Street. No TV's to distract your date. Candels burning, live music sometimes on Thursdays and Fridays. Unique tasty food. Mostly vegitarian but there are some spectacular chicken and fish dishes. If you want to impress a girl with Manhattan like atmosphere here on good old long island Tula is the place.

Cafe Buenos Aires
Submitted by: Erica on Aug 22nd 2007
By far one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The oxtail with rice in the roasted peppers was delicious and the ravioli in the pesto sauce just got better with every bite. For desert I had the churros and I couldn't have asked for a better way to end off the meal. I was nothing less than satisified from start to finish. In addition to that, the waitstaff was incredible. The owner himself greeted us at the door and checked up on us periodically. I would highly reccommend this place!

Hi Scott,
If you are looking for a place with a fun atmosphere, with great food and a very large variety of food for brunch, I would suggest the restaurant "FOUR FOOD STUDIO" in Melville. The website is www.fourfoodstudio.com. If you are looking for more of a laid back quiter atmosphere, I would suggest Rothmann's on Northern Blvd in East Norwich. The food is delectable but it is definatly more laid back than FOUR. Hope that helped

They make you feel like part of the family. The service is excellent no matter who you get as a server, we just happen to really enjoy Ernie's service! The food is great - George, Patricia, and Fran are always around to make sure that everything is just right! We've been going there for years and even had our son's christening there. Great place to go - not too loud so you can actually hear your company speaking without needing to scream at one another. They don't rush you, and they don't miss a beat!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
