Located just steps from City Hall, Sushein offers up the freshest Kaiten-style sushi in New York City. Better known as conveyor belt sushi in the US, Sushein is the first kosher restaurant to offer the feature. Kaiten-zushi is wildly popular in Japan for its freshness, convenience and creativity. Opening its doors in the summer of 2011, owners Israel and Sheindi (hence the name) Kletzkin and its master sushi chefs maintain the quality and authenticity of Kaiten-zushi while delivering unique, New York style flair to this delicious Japanese tradition.
As soon as you walk in to their traditionally-inspired pink and silver dining room, you are amazed at the uniqueness of the conveyor belt and the plates of sushi going around in a circle. And don’t worry, it’s not like at the airport when you have one piece of luggage going around aimlessly. The procedure is as follows: you sit down at the table next to the “belt” (there are other tables in the back but near the belt is the most desirable) and you watch as the plates go by. Now, as many of you know, you start eating with your eyes. So when you see a plate of sushi (or it could be a meat appetizer) you like, you take it off the belt and you start your meal. It’s quite cool and fun for all ages. At the end of the first course, the waiter will count the color-coded plates you ate from and ask if you would like to order your main from the a la carte menu featuring Short Ribs, Chilean Sea Bass or their Sushein Burger.
[continued above, right]
Serving lunch and dinner, they are Lower Manhattan’s spot for creative rolls and maki, à la carte sushi, sashimi and other Japanese delicacies. Round out your visit with their great selection of delicious desserts, and don’t forget to treat yourself to sake at the full bar complete with a wide range of imported and domestic drinks. And in a hurry and need your sushi fix? Don’t worry- Sushein is portable! Stop in for sushi takeout any time during the day or call them up for delivery. They deliver in a New York minute all over Lower Manhattan. Also, be sure to ask about their catering for your next event or office gathering and enjoy Kaiten-style sushi with your friends and family.

I WORK IN FEDERAL PLAZA ACROSS THE STREET FROM SUSHEIN, I WENT TO TRY IT OUT I HAVE TO SAY IT WAS SOMETHING OUT OF THIS WORLD! I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE CONVEYER BELT IDEA, WHICH MAKES IT ONLY MORE FUN! I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!
Excellent. Had take out today and it was fabulous (Tuna roll and Kani Tempura roll). A drop pricey (though they need quality ingredients and supervision!), but worth every penny! I will be back frequently.
