ABOUT Beyond by Shemtov's

Shemtov’s Pizza, had been a mainstay family cafe in Miami since 2005. But owner Baruch Sandhaus wished to create a gastronomic sensation that would wow diners. This would be a culinary concept that would make a singular impression - “beyond the imagination and the ordinary,” he said.

“Beyond by Shemtov’s” is the establishment Mr. Sandhaus realized; a more spectacular version of the pizzeria, on par with his Rare Steakhouse, which is blocks away from the pizza place The fun and festive complex looks anything but familiar. Exposed brick walls line the loft-sized, hyper-lit space with an open-slot, industrial-style dropped ceiling.

The adventure has begun. In the last year, they held a donut-eating contest, presented live music, including fundraising concerts by celebrated Jewish singers like Shlomo Katz, and set-up dinners at which guests tackle the Bible or Talmud while nibbling supper.

The reimagined Beyond by Shemtov’s rolls in with a fabulous website, a Facebook page picturing trendy events and tasty treats, and a forthcoming forty-course menu “designed to make you smile, discuss, frown, bewilder, amuse and sigh,” according to the colorful owner. Steve Jobs advised business owners to give customers ‘what they want’ – I surmise what my patrons want before they know it themselves, Mr. Sandhaus said. He promises a fresh menu each year and more delights that we can ever envision.
