Opened in August 2010, Ariel’s of Englewood serves exclusive dishes you may have seen on Top Chef or Iron Chef. In fact, owner/chef Craig Solomon, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, worked with famed Iron Chef winner Bobby Flay. During stints in New York City’s high-profile establishments early in his career, Mr. Solomon discovered inventive flavors being added to American regional fare, and wanted his own venue for diners to discover and learn to appreciate exotic, eclectic and wholesome kosher cuisine.
Ariel’s is well-located in Englewood, the urbane shopping/dining hub right off the Palisades, convenient to visitors from New York City, and a popular draw for neighboring Teaneck, and Rockland County towns.
It is an exceptionally chic eatery with high-ceilings, claret tones, and drop lighting throughout. The back area has a huge skylight, beautiful exposed brick walls and modern banquette seating, perfect for private parties. But the comfortable, spacious layout was inspired by frustrating dining experiences with his young daughter, Ariel, for whom the restaurant is named. “It was difficult to maneuver strollers in some places, and so I wanted guests to enjoy a room large enough to wheel strollers, and where kids could be themselves,” said Mr. Solomon.
