ABOUT Prime Grill

Located in the heart of midtown, an exceptional dining restaurant that happens to be kosher is a good way to describe one of the best kosher restaurants in the country. The Prime Grill doesn’t have any typical Jewish foods on the menu- and they prefer it that way. Appealing to an upscale, high-end crowd, and even to the occasional celebrity, the owners felt that while there are many kosher restaurants, they lack the high standards to be the best. Together with their dry aging facility on premises, they only get the highest quality of meat, with no expense spared. Executive Chef David Kolotkin, from Windows on the World, doesn’t see any limits when it comes to kosher products because if he doesn’t like what he sees, he creates it from scratch. The staff sporting white aprons over dark-blue shirts with savvy ties, is cordial and solicitous. The wood-paneled dining room is run like a smooth, well-oiled machine and everything is done with excellence and with great attention to detail. The restaurant received the highest rate in the Zagat survey food category (24) compared to all other kosher restaurants.

[continued above, right]

These high expectations provide further motivation for the owners and staff. The Prime Grill was quoted in the Zagat survey as “so nice you can’t even tell it’s kosher. It utilizes excellent ingredients and creative cooking and dollar for dollar, it may be the best of its genre in town.” For starters, sushi options are generous portions with the "Jerusalem" roll a featured item. For deep, beefy taste among entrées, there's little to match the Reserve Steak. Aged 45 days and charred to a crusty exterior, the cut matches flavor with tenderness. In addition, you must savor their New York Rib and Park Avenue Steak, as well as The Prime Grill Filet. Another recommended dish is the BBQ short ribs, the softest and most flavorful ribs you will ever taste. But no matter what you eat or drink (they happen to have one of the finest wine lists of any kosher restaurant), a visit to The Prime Grill will surely be one of the best tasting experiences you will ever have.

I WENT THERE LAST THURSDAY.AFTER WAITING CLOSE TO HALF AN HOUR TO BE SEATED THE SERVER WAS VERY RUDE SAID HE CANNOT ALLOW SUBSTITUTION ON A SIDE DISH BECAUSE THE CHEF WOULD NOT ALLOW IT. I THINK THE PRICES ARE OUTRAGEOUS AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANY OF MY FRIENDS

I believe they do allow substitutions and there prices are high but so is their quality. I wouldn't call it outrageous. What is your last name, so they can see who your waiter was?

Prime Grill Price Point
Jonathan Morristown NJ- 12/03/08
I just called to inquire about using the private room at Prime Grill for a party between 12 and 16. The advised that that for a party of 12 we must spend (excluding tax and tip) a minimum of $3,000 ($275 per person) and $3500 for a party of 16 or $218.75 per person. I knew it was expensive but don't understand how we can spend that much if this website indicates that the average price per person is $40 to $60 (PP w/o drinks). Can someone who has been there explain how the restaurant might be arriving at this price point?

Jonathan,
That does seem like alot of money pp.I have eaten there over the years tons of times and you can spend over $100 pp easy with appetizers, sushi, dinner, dessert but the reason the private room is so expensive is you are getting better service and they wait on you hand and foot.I would just reserve for however many people in your party and forget the private party room.

as in all restaurants a party price is more than an average check unless you come in on a slower day or time. the reason for this is that parties generally sit for double the time that an average diner does. i suggest to friends when asking about booking parties at restaurants to be open on the day (weekends or mondays) or times (early like 5:30pm or after 9pm) to get the best pricing.

this is by far the nicest meat restaurant i've been to in the world - i thought i was stunning!

food was excellent, prices where insane! and kashrute level was very good i met the shochet a very learned rabbi from Johannesburg, South Africa

he comes 2ce a month to do schita for all of the meat in china.

They provide kosher meals - and will be the only kosher restaurant in Beijing for 2008 Summer Olympics as far as now

Crispy Beaf was insane as was the some type of chicken they had with some type of peanut butter sauce spicey wow!

there food and portions were insane as the prices all the food we ordered came out to be $40 and boy did we order!

per person you can easily get out for under $15
With Drinks!

there prices were really great and i felt like i was back home at a restaurant like solo or prime grill.

Twist & Roll
Zahavamom- 01/20/08
My husband and I, on a motzei shabbos went to Twist & Roll with another couple. We were pleasantly surprised! The service was actually quite good, our food was delicious. My husband and I ordered sushi which was one of the best sushi that I have tasted. I got the spicy tuna and I have to say it was better than Prime Grill's (we went there the next week!)The pretzels were moist and fresh and the pizza we ordred was hot and cheesy. OVERALL, I would definately go back and would recommend it to my friends. We were there for 3 hrs and nobody rushed us along, the atmosphere was quite pleasant.
