Basil, Brooklyn’s one of a kind pizza and wine bar, is making headlines. This upscale dairy restaurant has made its debut into the Hassidic neighborhood of Crown Heights, with great acclaim from The New York Times to the Wall Street Journal to Wine Spectator. Heavily patronized by a diverse crowd from surrounding areas, Basil’s trendy menu and ambience attracts a steady flow of customers.
Owned by Daniel Branover and led by manager, Clara Perez, this Italian bistro specializes in unique menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night specialties. Offering wood-burning oven pizza, homemade pastas, salads, pressed Panini and fish dishes, Basil’s menu is certainly not for the ‘hamburger-French fry-chicken nugget’ crowd. Try the Arugula Salad for a wonderful blend of flavors – warm goat cheese, beets, arugula, truffle vinaigrette and pine nuts, or the White Asparagus Pizza – parmiggiano, smoked paprika, Vidalia onions, roasted peppers and white asparagus – for a warm, crusty and filling meal. And, of course, don’t miss the famous Basil Fries – crunchy, homemade fries topped with parmesan cheese and basil, served with a warm garlic-mayo dipping sauce.
