Open since March 2010, Chop Chop is an excellent fast-food Chinese and Sushi restaurant in the “Heights” of Manhattan. While located uptown in Washington Heights, across the street from Yeshiva University, they deliver to anywhere in Manhattan,Riverdale and parts of New Jersey. The stylish interior is colorful and animated - no wonder the chef's name is Sunny.
Owned by the Rutta Family from Scranton, PA & NYC, the menu is a mix of Szechuan, Cantonese and Asian Fusion. The Ruttas were wise to bring in consultant Neil Wallin, owner of the Cho-Sen Restaurants in Queens and Long Island, who has over 20 years experience in developing kosher Chinese cuisine & sushi and as a consultant. In fact, Neil’s daughter nicknamed her dad “Chop Chop,” the inspiration for the name of this hot spot where food is to be had in a snap.
The house specialties include: “Mongolian Beef,” - sliced beef with green & red peppers, onions in a sweet and spicy brown sauce; “Spanish Salmon” - grilled salmon with scallions and fresh ginger in a brown sauce. On the sushi side, the Chop Chop Roll of spicy tuna, cucumber and sweet potato tempura with avocado on top is an outstanding choice as well as the “Egg-Plant” Roll - fried, hard-boiled eggs topped with fried eggplant and the Crazy Tuna Roll. The Chicken Pad Thai and General Tso’s Chicken are fantastic selections. Dishes are easily made to the individuals' taste.
