ABOUT Bistro 1310

In the heart of Boro Park yet tucked out of view, a chic nook for upscale dining awaits discovery. Bistro 1310, right off 13th Avenue, opened in November 2009.  The restaurant has been cultivating a following that is thrilled to find a local and trendy eatery in town.  Its walls of glazed exposed brick and warm chestnut and russet colors create an inviting Old World ambience, while the metal-encased lanterns and a glass waterfall wall, set in Jerusalem stones, form a contemporary aesthetic decor.

Owner Gary Gani characterizes the cuisine as classic American with an ethnic touch. He also emphasizes the individuality of the sushi and the specially aged grilled meats.  Chef Raymon Mercedes, an accomplished chef of 30 years, relies on gourmet, organic herbs and incredibly fresh ingredients, to create an eclectic array of dishes drawing tastes from India, Asia and the Mediterranean. The entrees are thoughtfully executed and artfully arranged.

[continued above, right]

Bistro 1310’s waiters are known to pamper the clientele, and have a flair for recommending dishes that garner raves from diners. Its house specialties include Slow-Roasted Cajun Rib, Yatori skewers, and T-Rex steak, which, as its name suggests, is the largest serving of beef on the menu.  Some of the most favored desserts include Apple Bread pudding, Hot Chocolate Soufflé with whipped cream, and Tiramisu cake covered in chocolate.

A full-floor, upper level makes a great party room that holds up to 200 people.  Having been open exclusively for dinner, Bistro 1310 will soon be open for lunch from 11:30am to 2:00pm, much to the delight of its loyal patrons. They are also working on bringing in a wine bar. Join their Facebook page to have your next dessert on the house.

We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant; lovely decor, warm and intimate ambience, friendly and professional service, not to mention delicious food! They will let you bring your own wine until they get an alcohol license, and if you mention the restaurant at the wine store on 13th between 41st and 42nd, they'll give you 15% off! The one thing that was underwhelming was the size of the servings. We got the portobello appertizer, and for $12 they give you a single grilled portobello cap! Just a bit scanty. The steaks were also a bit on the small size, though the presentation was very good. I will say this: because they were small, I took my time to really enjoy it instead of just wolfing it down, and it was worth it. Absolutely delicious.

At the risk of letting everyone in on the best kept secret in Brooklyn, I give this place a great recommendation. We can't get enough of this restaurant, and go there as often as we can. Until they get a liquor license, you can bring your own bottle (but the rabbi checks that it's mevushal).

The first thing you notice is the cozy atmosphere, with a plush couch in the front, facing the windows. The brick walls add to the charm, and I must find out where they get their background music. The service is quick, and Steve the waiter always remembers our names and our favorites.

I love the hangar steak - it is so soft and flavorful. My kids enjoy the Thai chicken and the chicken and beef satay appetizer. The salads are fresh and crisp.

They just started opening on Motzoei Shabbos, so save me a spot!

A wonderful restaurant, gorgeous from outside, and once inside, feels like a true bistro: diffused lighting, exposed brick walls, stunning glass waterfall towards the back; such warm waiters, happy to make suggestions or to "affirm" your selections as "good choices." I had the amazing yellow split pea soup, Pan seared Tilapia with fragrant jasmine rice, and my friend, the delish butter-nut squash soup, Chicken Marsala with wild mushrooms and whipped potatoes. We shared mango sorbet for dessert. The mood is mellow and made our Sunday night so relaxing, and a perfect respite before what is inevitably, a hectic Monday. Rosa

We just got back from having a wonderful meal at this lovely place. Attentive service (it did not hurt that we got there early and were alone) and delicious food very nicely presented. All in all one of the better experiences we have had around new york.
