Eastward lie the walls of the old city.  To the west, the
lively nightlife of central Jerusalem.  Gabriel is a restaurant
seeking the perfect balance between authenticity and modernity.  Gabriel serves kosher gourmet cuisine in a French fusion style bringing you the very best of authentic cuisine with touches of a modern contemporary kitchen.

Opened in 2005, Gabriel is named after the angel Gabriel, meaning, “God is my strength.” The modern yet classy restaurant is owned by Zohar Cohen and is somewhat hidden between Shlomtzion Hamalka and Rivlin Street. Yet, it is well worth making sure you find it. The restaurant combines graceful service, palatable portions and a magical atmosphere.

A beautiful outdoor dining area with cute umbrellas to block the Jerusalem sun, is the first of several nice touches you will see. The restaurant maintains the Jerusalem white stone seen through the old city. Gabriel’s first floor is magnificent with nicely set tables and comfortable black leather chairs. The upstairs dining room is used for both in-house dining and for private events such as parties of up to 25 people. As you can see, the restaurant has a fully stocked liquor and wine bar, taking any event to the next level. They offer special cocktails and wines from Israel, the United States, France and Italy.

During the day, Gabriel offers business lunches with a rich array of dishes. In the evening, the menu changes with the best gastronimical French offerings. Recommendations include the Beef Wellington, steak filet with foie gras wrapped in a thin layer of dough with mushrooms and the Chateaubriand with a choice of white wine, dijon mustard or pepper sauce. Vegetarian dishes are available as well.  Desserts are homemade, with the halva parfait a favorite (see recipe page). When you’re looking to combine first class cuisine, elegant atmosphere and polite service, you’ll find that Gabriel has it all.

If you are in israel you have to check this place out! I have been going there for years and never get bored, I remember the taste long after I am back in the states. Oh! Desserts are a must! They look like art and taste amazing!

Gabriel is probably my favorite restaurant in the world. (with Osmose in Paris being a close second). Fabulous food, Foie Gras to die for and a truly great wine cellar that includes Israel's best wines as well as older vintages for those truly great occasions. Most of the wait staff is relatively knowledgeable about the wines and can assist with recommended pairings without trying to push the more expensive stuff.

Had enough shekels for dinner & some tip. But ooops, lacked 20 shekels for full 10% tip for my NIS 659 bill coz rest of my money was in US$. Waitress screeches loudly complaining about tip. Most embarrassing & frightful experience of my life.

Why didnt you just leave the tip in USD$ Not a valid excuse

Why didn't you leave a tip in $??? You spent 659 and expect the waitress to be happy with a lousy tip!<br />This is one of the best restaurants in the world. Dedi is amazing and so is his staff.
