Walking into Slice of Life is a delight to all your senses- from the beautiful hand-painted walls, matching upholstery and exposed copper ducts, to the tantalizing aromas of savory dishes being prepared in the kitchen. Offering a wide range of temptations for the past 18 years, owner Sheldon Kane doesn't make it easy for you to decide. With minestrone, vegetarian chili, French onion soups, along with more than ten appetizers, such as salmon teriyaki kabobs, you can be assured your meal is off to a good start.
Slice of Life's eclectic menu treats you to a selection of made-to- order salads, ranging from the traditional Greek salad sprinkled with the best tasting Israeli feta available to Slice of Life's own version of an antipasto salad. The restaurant is also synonymous with quesadillas. These huge homemade flour tortillas stuffed with cheese and various fillings are a favorite with guests and are always served with homemade guacamole and salsa.
For pasta lovers, sizzling spinach lasagna or irresistible linguine tossed with fresh salmon in rich homemade Alfredo sauce are popular choices. Slice of Life still makes ravioli the old fashioned way, by hand. If it is sandwiches that you have come for, do not pass up the A.L.T. club, a satisfying triple decker or the well-stacked eggplant parmesan sandwich. For the more adventurous, Slice of Life serves up multiple flavors that blend together nicely in its portabello mushroom and feta sandwich with homemade pesto spread.
As the name Slice of Life suggests, pizza is a staple among their customers. Customize your own thin crust pizza with a wide selection of fresh vegetables or choose from a specialty/gourmet pizza. Slice of Life’s award winning deep-dish pizza rates among Chicago's best. Calzones, huge turnovers made from homemade pizza dough, are also a big hit. The restaurant offers a full service bar with tantalizing drink specials and a fine selection of premium beers, single malt scotches as well as red and white wines. Finally, Slice of Life's own cheesecake is a great way complete your meal. Don't be afraid to bring the children, even the littlest guest will walk, or crawl, away happy. |
