Authentic sushi has found a new home in Flushing, New York. In March 2004, Sushi Metsuyan opened a new branch, much to the delight of its devoted clientele. After the popularity in Long Island, owners Bernard Benlevi, Daniel Berlin and the Yousfan family, felt the Queens community needed a great Southeast Asian restaurant. As in Cedarhurst, Sushi Metsuyan Queens has a huge fish tank, beautiful wall carvings and fantastic meat and sushi dishes.
Benlevi, a trained chef and sushi chef since the early eighties, takes a hands-on approach to everything he does and personally trains and supervises his cooking staff. As the person who is responsible for an entire line of kosher and rare ingredients from the Far East, Mr. Berlin’s expertise is well know in the industry. Working together since 1994- the pair succeeded in supplying the best sushi to fine kosher caterers and restaurants all along the eastern seaboard, gathering a small, but loyal following before opening their first restaurant. Once they did, they further developed their own catering firm as well. Thanks to their efforts over the past decade, the young sushi craze blossomed into a sophisticated staple of kosher diners everywhere from Boston to Baltimore.
For Queens residents and beyond, reasonably-priced wraps and sandwiches are available from noon to 4pm. The restaurant also offers a variety of exotic salads, soups and appetizers. Specially created dishes, such as Bulgogi Paper Beef, Panko Crusted Chicken and Warm Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna with Honey Wasabi Ailoi, round out the impressive selection of tantalizing entrees.
All desserts are hand-made on the premises by their in-house pastry chef. With daily food and drink specials, such as juice and fruit smoothies, at both their locations, Sushi Metsuyan has made its mark as one of the best dining experiences one can find. With one visit to any of their reliable Japanese restaurants, you will see what the masses have been raving about. |
