Steakiat Mabat is a cozy, intimate and candle-lit Israeli Steakhouse offering a variety of classic Middle Eastern dishes. Over the past 17 remarkable years, owners Yoram and Jai B. Levy have created a friendly atmosphere where guests can expect to see old friends sitting next to them. In fact, people come to dine here from all over.
What separates Mabat from the rest? Regulars insist that the extraordinary grilled steaks and freshness are reasons why diners keep coming back time and time again. Although Mabat is located off the beaten path of Kings Highway, it has attracted a hip crowd. It has enjoyed continued success for almost two decades, making what many meat aficionados hail as one of the very best steakhouses in New York City and beyond. Their cuisine has gotten rave reviews from Jim Leff of Chowhound.com and Arthur Schwartz of WWOR 710.
Yoram, who fought in the Israeli Army, also grew up in the restaurant business with his grandfather, father and uncle all working as butchers and shochets. He’s extremely knowledgeable about all the best cuts of meats and personally goes to the market and handpicks all the produce. With a love to cook, he’s extremely hands-on, taking care of the food with a passion. It’s that hard work and dedication, that has Yoram always striving for high expectations and high standards. Seventeen different hand-cut salads are prepared fresh daily. House specialties include Mabat’s Jerusalem Mix, Sineya, Prime Rib Steak and Baby Lamb Chops. Be sure to ask them about their lunch and dinner specials.
Yoram and Jai B. understand all about customer relations, and having the right attitude of guaranteed satisfaction. They instill the significance of individual attention, teamwork and communication to the staff. Jai B. feels that diners are guests coming into her home and, therefore, should be treated like family and friends. |
