Rated best falafel and schwarma by New York Metro Magazine, Olympic Pita is a popular and affordable neighborhood establishment with friendly and casual service. Owner Leo Cohen grew up in the restaurant business his entire life and has taken those experiences and turned them into a restaurant that provides people with the freshest salads and top quality meats.

The light and tender schwarma, consisting of 15 different spices, is described in New York Metro Magazine as “succulent Yemenite-Israeli poultry” and the “flavorful amalgam of chicken and turkey is sliced off the spit and rolled into a pita.” You can also choose to have it served in your complimentary warm sesame-seeded lafah straight from a clay oven specially brought from Israel. New York Metro goes on to say that the “blistered and blackened bread” is “resilient enough to contain the juicy, flavorful meat and awesome sauces- a dangerously spicy, cilantro based zhoug and a sweet-and-sour mango condiment called amba.” Other highlights are their falafels, Moroccan Cigars and Iraqi Kabob.

Olympic Pita has 24 kinds of salads that are made daily with the guarantee that nothing is left over- the cole slaw and eggplant salads are especially good. The meats and chicken are all prepared on the premises to control the freshness. From noon until 5:00, you can take advantage of a wonderful lunch special consisting of soup, a main course and 2 side dishes for only $9.99. The recently renovated and spacious private room in the back, decorated with a stunning mural, provides the perfect place for quiet dining and private parties. Unique from most restaurants, Olympic Pita allows you to bring in your own wine- but just call before you come to make sure that it’s acceptable.

For the last five years, Olympic Pita, with great food and wonderful hospitality, has been “The Place to Eat.”
