Located on the 10th Floor of a 32-story office building, high atop all other restaurants, sits a well lit, casual yet classy dining room, called The Club Cafe. The cafe is situated next door to the world famous Diamond Dealers Club, but no access is granted from the cafe to the highly guarded Diamond Club. Owner, Tuly Buchinger is a long time member of the Club and for many years he envisioned that a restaurant would do very well here. He figured that is wasn't being utilized properly by the club members and it would be a wonderful idea to open it up to the public.
The entrance is located on 5th Avenue, the center of all shopping. Because of security, one must show ID to the guard but once you pass, you take the elevator straight ahead up to the 10th Floor. As you can tell, this is not your ordinary cafe and Tuly likes it that way. Tuly along with business partner Yanky Grunzweig (the two also own Kosher Castle in Monsey) have created a unique opportunity for locals, tourists and business travelers. There are very few kosher dairy restaurants in Midtown Manhattan where you can take a client, colleague, friend or anyone else and expect to get a combination of reasonable prices, relaxed atmosphere and top-notch service. It’s simply a nice place to dine.
There is a sit down counter in one area of the room, perfect if you’re by yourself or don’t have much time. The other part of the room is decorated with pastel colors, white tablecloths and cushioned and comfortable chairs. While the room looks more like a restaurant than your typical cafe, you’ll be happy to know that they have all your favorite cafe selections. They are open early so you can drop by before work for their breakfast specials. For lunch they have many delectable soups, salads and paninis - all presented with a nice touch. Pizza, pasta, calzones and terrific sushi are also offered along with their very satisfying Diamond fish platters. On Thursday and Fridays they even serve parve cholent with kishke and potato kugel.
There is just something about eating in this tranquil kosher restaurant, high off the bustling avenue below that will make you love this place. Tuly and Yanky welcome you to the club. |
