My Most Favorite Food Company, a unique restaurant & cafe, is conveniently located near the theater district, Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Depending upon the season, tables for summer and fine-weather outdoor dining, adorn the street. Inside, on the first level of an elegant glass and stone modern high-rise building, is their restaurant. Floor-to-ceiling windows that look onto 45th Street insure a very attractive and airy dining experience. A sleek black bar - center stage, contrasts beautifully with white linen tablecloths.
It all started back 20 years ago, when they were in the bakery business in Great Neck, New York. With a line of products that tasted home-baked, they quickly outgrew that first space and in 1982 moved into Manhattan. Response to their products by Manhattanites was fabulous, with a review in The New York Times by food critic Florence Fabricant and “A-plus for quality” in The Daily News by Arthur Schwartz. “Great assortment of excellent kosher baked goods” and “forget the calories and eat like a kid,” are quotations from the Zagat.
Over the years, as their popularity grew, they began offering a full restaurant menu - breakfast, lunch and dinner - to complement their bakery line. The restaurant became an instant success and they could barely keep up with the crowds. The reason for their success is no secret: carefully prepared food of the highest quality at reasonable prices, a can-do approach where anyone's special request is handled immediately and a new way of thinking which insures the customer all the comforts and joys that can be had while dining in New York City.
Owners, Doris Schechter and daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Scott Magram, understand that the kosher palate has changed. They realize that the consumer is a more sophisticated and educated diner, so they have elevated their cuisines to a new and higher level. Recommended dishes are the Crispy Mushroom Roll and Grilled Salmon which can be enjoyed with one of their wines from an extensive selection. Be sure to try any of their famous homemade desserts. It is very common for theater-goers before and after the show to stop in and get a quick fix of their most favorite desserts. |
