In the same location as a family owned business since 1987, Galil Moroccan, a classy and homey restaurant decorated with authentic Moroccan rugs and paintings, strives to bring genuine and homemade cuisine to the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Not only do they accomplish this with their delicious grilled meats and vegetables, but the entire experience of dining out in this restaurant is filled with details of Moroccan living.
Order any of their exciting foods and you will get served in a one-of-a-kind Moroccan tajin. The dome like structure with fantastic designs, covers the plate and is lifted revealing the exquisite, tastefully spiced and seasoned dish. The chef, who happens to be the mother of owner, Daniel Amar, prepares the special traditional food in a gourmet style, bringing her secret family recipes- all the way from her hometown Casablanca, Morocco. She also worked in Israel as a private chef for a member of the Knesset. But what is most impressive, is that she cooks for her customers as she would for her own family.
That is the main reason for their success over the past 17 years. People know that they will feel welcomed and get freshly prepared crisp salads, fine grained rices and creative food with exotic spices. A highly recommended dish is their Lamb Tajin, which is extremely moist and full of wonderful flavors. A wine list consisting of over 20 varieties from California, France, Italy and Israel, gives the customer a description of each wine and what it goes well with.
A full array of exciting foods from the Middle East are available from the piping hot pita to the fruity and nutty baklava for dessert. A private room is available in the back for parties or quieter dining. At Galil Moroccan, attention is paid to every detail, making your meal a memorable and wonderful cultural dining experience. |
