It was over 30 years when Ken Hechtman opened up Ken’s Diner. For the last three decades Ken’s has been serving the Chicago area the best Burger Buddies and BBQ ribs. For many of those years, next door to Ken’s was Bugsy’s Charhouse. But after seeing the kosher landscape and where it was going, Ken decided to turn the place upside down and throw a beach party. And so in 2007, Malibu Pizza, Pasta and Snack Shop was born. While the two restaurants have totally separate kitchens, the one thing they do share is the commitment from Ken and brother Danny to give you the best food they possibly can.
While Ken’s Diner is decorated with a sports memorabilia theme, Malibu is all about the sun and beach. Ken spent months designing and
developing the restaurant and if he could lay down sand on the floor he would. Malibu is the ultimate, cool pizza shop where even on those cold Chicago winter days and night, you can’t help but feel toasty. The food will also keep you warm with many specialty pizzas and hot Mexican dishes that will make you think you’re at a beach house in Mexico. But of course, Malibu Beach, California is where you're taken, where you can just imagine after a pizza and a soda you grab your surfboard and hit the water for a “narly” wave. Cool dude!
Malibu is also jumping with events, such as “Girls Night out,” where on a dedicated Monday of every month, no men are allowed and women have an open mic to sign karaoke and even show off their comedy routine. Open mic and karaoke for both men and women are on Thursday nights, with live music also featured Monday through Wednesday as well as Saturday night. |
