Opened in 2005, Gabriel is an authentic French restaurant, named after the angel Gabriel, meaning, “God is my strength.” The modern yet classy restaurant is owned by Zohar Cohen and is somewhat hidden in between Shlomtzion Hamalka and Rivlin Street. Yet, it is well worth making sure you find it. The restaurant combines graceful service, palatable portions and a
magical atmosphere.
A beautiful outdoor dining area with cute umbrellas to block the Jerusalem sun, is the first of several nice touches you will see. The restaurant maintains the Jerusalem white stone seen through the old city. Gabriel’s first floor is magnificent with nicely set tables and comfortable black leather chairs. The upstairs dining room (pictured to your left) is used for both in-house dining and for private events as well as parties of up to 25 people. As you can see, the restaurant has a fully stocked liquor and wine bar, taking any event to the next level. They offer special cocktails and and wines from Israel, United States, France and Italy.
During the day, Gabriel offers business lunches with a rich array of dishes. In th evening, the menu changes with the best gastronimical French offerings. Recommendations include the Beef Wellington, steak filet with foie gras wrapped in a thin layer of dough with mushrooms and the Chateaubriand with a choice of white wine, dijon mustard or pepper sauce. Desserts are homemade, with the halva parfait a favorite. When you’re looking to combine first class cuisine, elegant atmosphere and polite service, you’ll find that Gabriel has it all.
For those looking for the finest in wines and spirits, Zohar also owns, Wine Hall, a beautiful wine store a block away at Shlomzion Hamalka 4. They have a wine tasting every Friday and can be reached at 02-622-2024. |
