Mexico City is known for having great non-Kosher restaurants. But, before the Gaucho Grill, there were no serious Kosher options in Mexico City. However, owners, father and son, Victor and Gabriel Romano, wanted to create a place that was no different from the non-Kosher restaurants. They exerted every effort to offer quality in each aspect of the dining experience: Food, Decor and Service. And that dedication was validated in 2003 when the restaurant was awarded “one of the 100 best restaurants in Mexico.”
Decorated by a prestigious architectural firm in Mexico, the restaurant has two dining rooms, accented by candles and flowers. The decor is modern with a classical Argentinean twist. There are several plasma screens for viewing sporting events. Gaucho Grill’s house specialty is the Chateaubriand - their Prime Cut served over Papa Paja in a delicious wine and pepper sauce.
While Gaucho Grill occupies the lower level, you will find the upstairs has more a laid back atmosphere in their second restaurant, called Metsuyan. With a Chinese cuisine and sushi bar, they are the only kosher chinese restaurant in Mexico City. When you’re there, be sure to try their signature dish - the Metsuyan Steak. It is a soft marbled steak served over Chinese vegetables, with sesame and soy sauce.
Throughout the almost seven years the Romanos have been operating their restaurants, they've become the must stop for kosher visitors, and the choice option for business meetings and family reunions. Conveniently, the restaurant offers shipping throughout Mexico. Gabriel states, “I believe tourists that visit Mexico City do not expect to find such a good kosher option.” Gabriel, they will, now. |
