Fuji Hana was the original Japanese restaurant in Brooklyn and with over 10 years of outstanding food and service, they are as strong as ever. Patrons walk in knowing that they will get the finest fare and, undoubtedly, walk out smiling. The spacious and well-lit restaurant, owned by Isidore and Lorraine Gindi, has a full menu of American and Japanese dishes. Simon, the head manager is likeable and friendly as is their entire staff, who are always greeting the guests and helping them with their orders.
It is recommended to begin the meal with a classic Miso soup in a Japanese bowl or any of their fresh salads- but be sure to ask them for their low-fat, lemon parsley dressing- just delicious. Of course, there is plenty of sushi available like the heart-shaped Sweetheart Roll, a wonderful combination of cooked salmon, cucumber, avocado and crunchy flakes with tuna on top. There are over 2 dozen Asian appetizers to choose from, including the juicy Gyoza dumpling and crispy Tatsuta Age, an Oriental version of fried chicken strips dipped in a fabulous ketchup-like sauce, called Katsu.
For your entrees, the short ribs, in house bbq sauce, are as soft as anything you’ve ever had and highly advisable. The massive, sizzling Rib Steak Teriyaki and Veal Chops together with their Japanese fried rice are second to none. All the meats are aged and of first-cut quality. Fish arrive fresh daily and can be grilled or lightly breaded and fried. The restaurant also offers authentic Japanese entrees such as Nabemono, a Japanese noodle entree served in a large bowl and many special items such as Moo Goo Gai Pan and Pineapple Chicken.
The dining room, shaped like an “L,” has a large back area which is perfect for in-house Sheva Brachot and other parties. Their catering menu has an abundance of Japanese and American selections. What Fuji Hana is also famous for is their oversized and homemade desserts, especially the Hot Toll House Pie a La Mode,
a huge hot cookie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Named after the well known Mount Fuji in Japan, this restaurant is sky high in the eyes of their customers. |
