Levy's Kosher Italian
Submitted by: Lover of Good Food on Aug 24th 2008
the food is fantastic - i could not believe the huge portions they served. I had the vodka penne and had enough for three people (plus, the french fries are to die for!). service friendly and fast, and prices cannot be beat. This food is for anyone (especially those who want healthy cooking) - not just those looking for kosher fare. Especially since kosher food is prepared with much stricter guildelines (I wish all restaurants made their food with the strict guidelines - there'd be alot less food-health issues in the U.S, that's for sure!) Five stars

A kosher place near Sleepy Hollow, NY

Elan, do you know of anything in that location?
Don't really care meat or dairy. Thanks!

Unfortunately, there are not too many places near Sleepy Hollow. As a Westchester resident, I have to either go into White Plains/Scarsdale/New Rochelle to find kosher dining, or travel into Riverdale, which is not too far from Sleepy Hollow (I live in Irvington/Dobbs Ferry and it only takes 25 minutes). There are plenty of dairy, vegetarian, meat, butchers, supermarkets in Riverdale, all certified by Vaad of Riverdale. Westchester kosher is certified by I think Vaad of Queens... Hopefully as more frum Jews move into the Rivertowns/Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow area we'll get more kosher restaurants. The Chabad shuls in Dobbs Ferry and Briarcliffe/Ossining should help on that front!

decor is great, service is terrible. sat for 45 minutes before anyone realized we weren't being served. owner asked us why we didn't tell him we weren't being served. we said we thought we were just waiting our turn. then the waitress lost our order and they ran out of salad. took our order again and 20 minutes later we were all eating although the food was not good.

WOW! We just had our JECSFL boys at your place and the food was outstanding! Along with our wacky waiter Adam, we had a really enjoyable experience along with some excellent dishes such as the delicious Hurricane Roll and tasty steaks, including the Hawaiian Tropical Steak and the Kalbi Steak. The service was fun yet very professional. This steakhouse rivals some of the best steak places in New York. Five Stars!!!

This place was great, unbelievable decor, tastiest Moroccan food anywhere, friendly service by owner, but unfortunately they sold recently (July 2008) to an Indian person and it is no longer Kosher -- not sure if they kept the cuisine and decor. Mamash chaval :~(

I highly reccomend Bistro Grill on Broadway in Woodnmere Owners name is Rafi, what a gem of a person. I have been in the restaurant business for 12 years, I can honestly say that the place, food, hospitality and ambience is by far the best ive seen and experienced.

Prime Grill Beverly Hills was on Rodeo Drive, but they closed a few months ago. A Cow Jumped over the Moon, the dairy gourmet cafe underneath the Prime Grill has now moved into that location. Hope this helps.

tips
Submitted by: Elka on Aug 6th 2008
While the food is good, the service varies. I like to leave a tip depending on the level of service. It does not say anywhere on the menu that gratuity is 18% but they add it. That is illegal.

Carciofi Ristorante 904 Kings Highway
Submitted by: Barbara Wolin on Jul 25th 2008
This restaurant is absolutely terrific. The service is great and the food is out of this world. It's brand new. I've dined there twice. they make their own bread that is so delicious, it could be a meal itself. The food is so fresh and so delicious it could be addictive. We had Veal Marsala, Chicken Francais and Lasagna with eggplant. The Veal and Chicken had a delicate, delicious wine sauce with fresh mushrooms. The vegetable on the side might look everyday, but once you taste it, you'll know they are truly something special. If I had the money, I'd take out a full page ad in the Jewish Press announcing my joy at finally having a restaurant in Brooklyn that is highly satisfactory in every way possible. It's very comfortable as well. Try it. You'll love it.

I understand there is a meat restaurant next to Clarion Are there any other dairy or meat restaurants?

there is another one closer to Atlantic city, its called Jerusalem Restaurant on Ventor Ave (609-822-2266) i have been there a few yrs ago, dunno who the Hecsher is (probably someone unknown) food was ok, but store was very dark & dingy, Owners were very very nice. The one next to the Clarion is called Sharis Steak House (609-272-8822) VEry clean and very good food, i love his BBQ sauce, whenever in that area always stop off there (and very good Hechsher) Highly recommend. (due to lack of al the kosher products up there follow what he recommends rather then the menu). There are no Dairy places in the area.

We just visited Shari's restaurant-at the Clarion hotel on the 23rd and 24th in Pleasantville N.J..
The food was excellent but it was pricey. The service was excellent and it is nice having a kosher restaurant in A.C.

tea for two florida
Submitted by: robert on Jul 23rd 2008
When did the original owners leave? I was there this week and saw new faces, asked about the original owners and was told they sold the business. Sad, they were very different in many ways. I never ate kosher until i happened tro walk in there 3 years ago. Alan and the staff were friendly and knew what they were doing. Sorry, new owner needs some serious training.

They now have a Tea for Two on Central Avenue in Cedarhurst as well. I don't know if it's open for business yet but there's definitely an awning up. They took over Occasions.
