Prime Grill New York

My wife and I just had dinner there last night and I must say that I was extremely disappointed in their food and service. This was the 4th or 5th time I had been there and honestly it will also probably be the last time. I had always considered this establishment to be the creme de la creme of kosher dining. They are certainly probably the most expensive.

I knew that we'd be paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 for the two of us, but I felt like if we're paying that much money, the food and the service should be excellent. For an appetizer we ordered the duck springrolls for $21 (yes $21!) for 3 small springrolls. They were pretty much tasteless. The BBQ dipping sauce that they were served with was good and helped to give them some sort of flavor. For our entrees, my wife had the rib eye and I had the "fillet". The quotation marks bely the fact that it is not an actual fillet mignon (this is a kosher restaurant so I understood that). Even so, this was probably the most mediocre piece of meat I've ever tasted. I knew it is a lean piece of meat and so I ordered it medium rare. It had no taste and was tough as leather. My wife's rib eye was decent, but certainly not worth the $55 we paid for it. The side dishes were also overpriced and nothing special as well. I wound up eating about half of the meat. What made this all worse was that our waiter never came around to ask us how we were doing or if he could get us anything else. He just kept walking by with my half eaten dinner still sitting in front of me.

Eventually I got up to go tell the manager how disappointed I was to be eating at perhaps the best kosher steak house in New York and to be getting such bad food and bad service. For $200 I expected a lot more. He offered me a glass of wine or a complimentary dessert which I refused.
