I am from Florida but am very familiar with Essex; I have been going there for years. When I visited my grandmother (who lived in midwood) I almost always went to Essex-I remember the days when it was just a deli. Since the introduction of Chinese, it has made this restaurant even better. Whenever I visit New York, I always stop at essex to pick up food, including chinese dinners to take back to Florida. Harry and his son are wonderful people and I was dissapointed this weekend when I went to Essex and found out about the fire. I'm sure when they reopen it will be business as usual! Essex is the best food in NY!
