Prime Grill New York
Submitted by: Anoynomous on Jan 3rd 2008
This was one of the worst resraunts I have ever seen. Not only is it 3x as expensive as listed, they were rude and did not even serve orderd drinks. Also the manager came by our table to loudly demand that the waiter "get them out of here" 2x, meaning our table. Will never go back, and will tell all mt friends.

Nice restaurant, pretty decent food. The waiter was friendly, however, we had to ask for things that are normally put on the table (water, chinese nooddles & sauce) + one of the orders was incorrect (this may have been the kitchen's fault). I wanted to leave a tad less the usual 15% tip - but I was told that the tip was already included in the charge - 18%!!
I really resent this & hope it's not a trend in kosher restaurants.
I know they do this at some 'fancy' pretentious places in Manhattan - but a tip - and especially the amount should be up to the customers to be able to reflect their satisfaction with the level of service.

Dougies BBQ Brooklyn

Well I love the fact that there is a Kosher BBQ! The food is good and I can guarantee the kids will love this place! Although if u don't have kids yet or are trying to go somewhere romantic...this is not the place! There are crayons on each table, for the munchkins! This is a place to take the kids.

Prime Grill New York
Submitted by: Mike on Dec 30th 2007
My wife and I just had dinner there last night and I must say that I was extremely disappointed in their food and service. This was the 4th or 5th time I had been there and honestly it will also probably be the last time. I had always considered this establishment to be the creme de la creme of kosher dining. They are certainly probably the most expensive.

I knew that we'd be paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 for the two of us, but I felt like if we're paying that much money, the food and the service should be excellent. For an appetizer we ordered the duck springrolls for $21 (yes $21!) for 3 small springrolls. They were pretty much tasteless. The BBQ dipping sauce that they were served with was good and helped to give them some sort of flavor. For our entrees, my wife had the rib eye and I had the "fillet". The quotation marks bely the fact that it is not an actual fillet mignon (this is a kosher restaurant so I understood that). Even so, this was probably the most mediocre piece of meat I've ever tasted. I knew it is a lean piece of meat and so I ordered it medium rare. It had no taste and was tough as leather. My wife's rib eye was decent, but certainly not worth the $55 we paid for it. The side dishes were also overpriced and nothing special as well. I wound up eating about half of the meat. What made this all worse was that our waiter never came around to ask us how we were doing or if he could get us anything else. He just kept walking by with my half eaten dinner still sitting in front of me.

Eventually I got up to go tell the manager how disappointed I was to be eating at perhaps the best kosher steak house in New York and to be getting such bad food and bad service. For $200 I expected a lot more. He offered me a glass of wine or a complimentary dessert which I refused.

The food was absolutely amazing and the owner, Sarah, could not have been nicer. They have a new website that we go to all of the time to order out (www.tastebudsnj.com). Really simple and fast. Our favorite is the sushi. They have so many different and unique choices.

Orchidea---A place of royalty!!!
Submitted by: Shimi-A on Dec 25th 2007
I'm glad to see that the recent posts agree. The place is flawless. As soon as you walk in you know that you'll be treated only with the finest service. When we were eating there we over heard a couple saying that "It's a Manhattan five star restaurant atmosphere, only in the heart of Brooklyn". They could'nt be more on target. Finally a place that looks like a dream AND has deelicious food. I like my food spicy. And everytime I go to a dairy restaurant and ask them to make my pasta spicy, they just say "I'm sorry we could just give you spicy sauce on the side". Orchidea not only made my dish spicy, but it was as if they knew exactly how I like it!! They are so concerned about the costumer they kept asking if I am satisfied with the dish. The presentations of the dishes just makes your mouth water.

Hapisgah Steak House
Submitted by: Yaakov on Dec 24th 2007
I have no idea how this wonderful restaurant was left out of the reviews. My wife and I regard this as our most precious spot. The decor is very warm and romantic with nice small tables. We begin with drinks from the bar with hot chickpeas. We have to share the house steak steaming on a metal platter smothered with mushrooms and onions. Whatever you eat in this place melts in your mouth and the portions are beyond compare. The service is more than excellent as somehow these waiters seem to recall what your previous needs were. If you haven't been to Hapisgah yet you are really missing a treat at an unbelievable price.

Orchidea- Hats Off To You!!!
Submitted by: Amy Spinnet on Dec 23rd 2007
When we walked into Orchedia, we knew this place was going to rate more then great with grandma...and we were right.
Our grandma and zaidy are bent on taking their grandchildren out for lunch/dinner often. In fact, they have tried just about every restaurant in NY, Miami and Israel upon whatever occasion they could muster up-- they just love eating out.
But this was one restaurant that definitely won their approval- it surpassed many other similar places by far. Why? The dimly lit romantic setting provided for a relaxed, upper scale atmosphere. The presentation of the mouth watering dishes... the great tasting selection of delicacies available... the impeccable cleanliness of the place... the great service. Grandma and the rest of us were all hooked. In fact, grandma sends anyone she knows dating right there. It's the perfect place. For a perfect reason(s)! Thanks a lot and keep it up!

By far my favorite spot! Nothing beats the elegant and relaxed atmosphere, the great presentation of the food, the unbeatable service.
Thank you! Now asumming the staff at Orchidea really does review this email- I have a request, and a proposal to offer you: I'm an aspiring copywriter, in the midst of AWAI's right-on-target copywriting course. I'd like to do a write-up on your restaurant, in the form of a promotional sales letter. All it means for you, is that I need your basic background info, customer comments etc. After I'm done my assignment-a write up on Orchidea, my favorite restaurant- I'll email you the end document and you can decide if it's something you want to go for and use. (Don't forget, if I wouldn't be chosing to use your restaurant as my choice of assignment, you could be paying over $2,000 for the same piece!!)
So let me know if you chose to send me some info you have on file- and stand a chance to receive a very valuable sales tool-- for FREE!!
I appreciate your time and consideration,
always,
Malka Holzer malkaholzer@gmail.com
p.s. I have a limited time frame in which to complete this project, so please hurry!! And get back to me ASAP! I would really love to do this for you! 718-475-6696 8am-4pm
